Cartoon of the Week: Yusaku Maezawa will walk around the moon alone

She had only to be a single female, over 20 and ready to travel. She would then have a chance to become Yusaku Maezawa’s girlfriend and go on a voyage around the moon.

That’s what the 44-year-old billionaire announced by way of a reality TV show called “Full Moon Lovers.” After almost 28,000 ladies applied and expressed interest in making the romantic journey, Yusaku abandoned the idea and decided to go alone after all.

Yusaku Maezawa

“Despite my genuine and honest determination toward the show, there was a part of me that still had mixed feelings about my participation,” he writes on Twitter. “To think that 27,722 women, with earnest intentions and courage, had used their precious time to apply makes me feel extremely remorseful to conclude and inform everyone with this selfish decision of mine.”

Maezawa hasn’t specified what those reasons were, but was “extremely remorseful” about the decision to pull out.

He should be! Who wouldn’t be sad to promise the moon and then go there alone?
