eXo Sneak Peek: multiselection and zip upload

We have decided to bring back the “Sneak Peek” series to keep you informed as to the platform’s evolution on a regular basis. This article is part of those series, introducing noteworthy improvements to eXo Platform.

In particular, this article features some recent improvements in the Documents management application.

Improved user experience for multiple documents selection

It is now easy to select and de-select a document or a folder directly from the documents list. If more than 1 item is selected, a button indicating actionable options automatically appears on top of the list :
Both Recent and Folder views incorporate this capability :

Moving multiple documents at once

The moving feature is now possible for the selected documents/folders, whether by choosing the “Move to” among the acitons and then choosing the destination folder, or by dragging – dropping the selection in the relevant folder.

This capability is illustrated at the end of the video linked below.

Downloading a .zip

When the user chooses to download a selection, the download feature automatically produces and downloads a .zip file. When unzipped on your desktop, the file displays the orginal filing structure – folders/subfolders etc.

 

Uploading and opening a .zip

It is now possible not only to upload a .zip file as any other file, but to automatically unzip it. In order to do that, choose “Import” in the uploading options :

The file is unziped and the folders/subfolders structure imported in eXo Platform :

If you want to upload a .zip for storage, without de-zipping it, you can still do so by choosing the New/Document upload option.
