Caixa Econômica Federal (CEF) is the second largest bank in Brazil, employing some 20,000 people across the country and owned by the federal government.
Besides functioning as a regular saving accounts and compensation bank, CEF is responsible for federal government social programs, such as social security, unemployment insurance, real estate credit, and many charity projects.
The challenge for eXo Platform was to develop and implement a single, unified intranet for all business applications and data, feeding multiple extranets.
Caixa Econômica Federal required an intranet to serve its 20,000 employees working in multiple agencies across the country. It needed to integrate all of its business applications and data in a single platform. Employees needed to be able to access everything through a unified portal interface.
CEF also wanted to build several extranets for its retail clients. These would allow the clients to access their account information, apply for different types of aid and credits, and access company information.
Due to the highly sensitive nature of the data being stored and handled, robust security protection was a key requirement for all the projects.
CEF initially chose eXo Platform because it is open source and standards-based.
In the Proof of Concept phase (or PoC), we delivered the required results, easily passing charge tests and security requirements tests. This process was instrumental in assuring Caixa of our product’s abilities and the likelihood of overall project success, and subsequently led the company to choose us for further projects.
During implementation, the eXo teams achieved, as usual, timely quarterly delivery!
In summary, the eXo portals proved their worth in improving Caixa employee collaboration and communication, while providing critical security protection.
