Cartoon of the Week: Instagram reaches One Billion Monthly Active Users

Instagram hit one of its most crucial milestones this week: one billion users, after passing the 800 million mark in September 2017. The big news came along at the same time as the launch of IGTV, the long-form video format that will probably rival Youtube.

The quick growth of the photo-sharing app has surprised more than a few people, as the platform is growing by five percent from one quarter to the next.

This is due to the wild popularity of Instagram Stories that are crushing and eclipsing Snapchat, even if ironically it’s stolen and copied from it.

Not only that, but Instagram is benefiting from Facebook’s waning popularity among the younger generations that are flocking toward Instagram.

That will only put more pressure on Instagram to carry its weight in the Facebook family. Now Instagram is among the ‘billion’ squad and it’s expected to only do better and get better.
