Cartoon of the Week: Have you monitored your health?
For the last few years, many tech companies have been trying to come up with solutions for health monitoring. Patients usually monitor their biological measurements by pricking themselves to get a blood sample. A new solution would save time, money and lives.
Instantaneous results make it easier for people to track a problem (if there is one), instead of having to go to a doctor and stressing over results. Countless companies have been working on this for the last few years and they are transforming an entire industry.
Companies like Virta, which promises to cure patients by remotely monitoring their behaviour, Livongo Health, which has just raised $52.5 million to launch its blood sugar monitoring product, or even the ‘electronic skin’ with an organic circuit, made in Japan, are real game changers.
Apple has also been running a project, for five years now, on glucose sensor technology for diabetes. Steve Jobs even believed that Apple would one day be at the intersection of technology and biology.
As remote health monitoring becomes the new norm, we are heading towards a time where we can check our dashboard health every day – early in the morning before going to work, or last thing at night before bed.
