Cartoon of the Week: Angry Birds is back – and this time it’s in mixed reality.
Rovio Entertainment and Swedish VR and AR games studio Resolution Games are teaming up for the release of the immensely popular Angry Birds. This time the game will be in mixed reality and is expected for early 2019.
The Angry Birds era seems to have faded a little, after being the biggest video game in the world. However, it seems that Rovio is now looking to facelift the brand a little.
“Introducing the Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs is an exciting step for Rovio in exploring the future of gaming,” said Kati Levoranta, CEO of Rovio.
“We are thrilled that millions of Angry Birds fans will soon be able literally to step into the Angry Birds universe, with the powerful sense of presence you get with VR. Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs continues to demonstrate the many unforeseen ways fans can interact with their favourite characters and gameplay.”
There aren’t yet many details about what to expect from the game, but we do know that the success of mixed reality games depends largely on the content – something Angry Birds excels in.
