eXo offers a set of user experience services, available as downloadable software or in the cloud, for building and deploying transactional websites, managing web and social content and creating gadgets and dashboards for deployment on-premise, to mobile devices, or in cloud computing environments. To enable enterprises to extend their existing Java EE investments to create modern applications that meet today’s content-driven, social and collaborative computing needs, while supporting multiple deployment models, including cloud and mobile environments. In short: to build the best user experience platform.

Our History

eXo began as an open source project in 2002, as the industry's first Java portlet container. The eXo Project catalyzed a portal market dominated by a handful of very large vendors selling six-figure software and lock in. We opened the floodgates to choice in this market, and customers came.

The eXo Project grew into a company in 2003, as a response to customer demand. That customer -- the U.S. Department of Defense -- kicked off a tradition that continues to this day: Building great software in partnership with our customers. We can do this because we release our code in the open. It's how the DoD found us, when we were just university students hacking away, and it's how we choose to do business with our customers.

Today, eXo is a rapidly growing global company, with U.S. headquarters in San Francisco, California, global headquarters in France, and offices in Tunisia, Ukraine, and Vietnam. The company has established technology leadership and proven value by their large European installed base and strategic partnerships with Red Hat, Capgemini and Atos Origin.

How We Work

The cornerstone of our offering is eXo Platform, the first and only mobile and cloud-ready portal and user experience platform. We deliver eXo Platform under a subscription model: the software is integrated, tested and certified, then packaged with enterprise-ready features, support and services.

Core technology from eXo Platform, including multi-tenancy enablement, Java Content Repository (JCR) and the web-based development environment (IDE) powers eXo Cloud Services. Our goal is to make the user experience enhancements we've brought to Java enterprises available in the cloud, as a complete UXPaaS, or user experience platform-as-a-service.

• Our strategic partnership with Red Hat. Together we co-lead the development of the GateIn open source portal project, which is utilized in our respective enterprise offerings. eXo technology also powers the Site Publisher edition of the JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform.
